Welcome to a journal about politics and philosophy. I have another name on livejournal, but this one will be solely devoted to those previous topics.
Why antipolitics? In my past few years of reading political articles online and in newspapers, I've had occasional moments of being filled with disgust. At first, this disgust was with only one side of the classic liberal/conservative spectrum, but then I started to realize that people are using bad argument tactics on both sides. I'm not saying that a happy moderate medium is naturally the best, but I would like to use critical thought to examine the issues, free from the biases, bad logic, appeals to emotion, scare tactics, and other problems that seem to be the rule in the political domain.
For now, I will attempt to write one essay a week in order to improve my writing skills and organize my thoughts about various issues. I hope to use this journal to comment in other political communities and keep my political views cleanly separated from other things in my life.
At some point, I would like to turn this into a community, where people can freely debate and discuss the issues with other similarly rational people. I'd like it to be fairly exclusive in that regard, in order for debate to be polite, yet unrestrained by a necessity to be "politically correct." Perhaps this goal is unachievable, but if you share in my disgust of the way politics are currently conducted, please join, and hopefully we can talk about things.
For more information see the first post.
